KATHMANDU, AUG 16 - The first of the two-day general strike called by the CPN-Maoist, Madhesi parties and Limbuwan Party against the proposed 6-state federal model has affected normal life across the country.

Few motorcycles are running on the road in the Capital while public transport has remained completely shut. Normal life has been severely affected as major market areas, educational institutes and industries have also remained closed.
Mohan Baidhya-led CPN-Maoist, Janajati parties and Madhes-based parties have called the two-day strike on Sunday and Monday against the major parties decision to delineate the country into six provincial states.
Bus vandalised at Babarmahal
Banda enforcers have vandalised a bus at Babarmahal in the Capital. The windshield of the bus (Ba 2 Kha 9661) was completely damaged.
Likewise, three vehicles have also been vandalised in Chitwan today.
61 banda enforcers arrested
Police has arrested 61 banda enforcers including Vice Chairman of Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Rajendra Shrestha from the Capital today.
Shrestha and 30 others were arrested from near the Bir Hospital by police.
