Health Minister warns doctors

DAMAULI, July 31
Minister for Health and Population Khagaraj Adhikari on Friday warned doctors working in government health facilities that action will be taken against them if they are found serving in private hospitals and clinics without permission from the state authority. Speaking at the inauguration of  newly constructed structures in Damauli Hospital on Friday, Adhikari said it was illegal of doctors working in state owned facilities to work in private health institutes simultaneously and action would be taken against such doctors.
He added that doctors who pursue their MD or MS degree with government scholarships should extend their services to the allocated area upon completion of study.
“If scholarship graduates do not serve in the allocated area for two years, they will be denied NOC,” he announced.
He said that remuneration and perks for women health volunteers will be increased as they have played a crucial role in maintaining people’s health and that the government was preparing to recruit around 7,000 health workers’ across the country. He stressed that each hospital must have at least one pharmacy.
He also informed about his campaign against growing corruption in the country’s health sector. He urged all doctors not to get involved in politics and underestimate people’s health. He also appealed to the general public not to pay any extra charge except that which is mentioned in the label. He assured that the government would extend necessary help in the expansion of the hospital with up to 50 beds, necessary doctors, and infrastructure, if locals managed 35 ropani land.
Health workers and former chairperson of the hospital management committee were felicitated on the occasion.
