KATHMANDU, AUG 14 - UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Prabhu Sah on Friday resign ed as the member of Constitution Drafting Committee (CA) accusing the committee Chair, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, of working in violation of prescribed norms and procedure.

Sah’s resign ation comes at a time when CDC has been assigned to prepare a Bill of constitution. “The committee is supposed to prepare the Bill on the basis of agreement forged in Constitution Assembly,” Sah told eKantipur. “But those agreements are being reversed and the work is being carried out by breaching the procedures.”
Sah said he resign ed as he could not remain a mute-spectator and feel helpless. He submitted his resign ation to CDC Chairman Sitaula today.
Sah also alleged that Chairman Situala unilaterally formed a taskforce to prepare the draft of his choice and did not discuss it at the committee. “Even committee members do not know who have been inducted in the task force,” Sah rued.
The UCPN (M) lawmaker has also expressed his dissatisfaction over what he called the reluctance to include the issues of the first Constituent Assembly (CA) that were owned up by the second CA in the current draft. He said he can no longer be a part of writing the draft that strips the rights of Madhesi, Dalit, Muslim, and women, among other marginalised communities.
